When The Bride Acts Like One…

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ~ James 1:2-4

This week has been an emotional one, as we anticipate the coming days ahead. But I have to say that it has been greatly helped by those in our life who make up the beautiful bride of Christ.

We often see where the church body falls short. We complain about it. Roll our eyes at it. And get frustrated with it.

But there is nothing more glorious than seeing the hands and feet of Christ’s beaming bride fill the gap Jesus intended it to fill. The living and active church of the Lord is very much present. She truly does hold the hands of the weak and sacrifice herself for the poor in spirit. She is up-rooting her luxurious life to bring the Good News to far off places. And she is bearing the burdens of her brother’s and sister’s.

She is doing the work that her precious groom has been willing her to do. And in His eyes, she is a beautiful sight.

We have had the blessing of witnessing the church act like one. It has brought many tears to our eyes as we have been on the receiving end of our brother’s and sister’s generosity to us in multiple ways.

We all meet trials of various kinds regularly. And if it weren’t for the knowledge of the saving grace of Christ and for His bride, it might be unbearable. But today I am counting it all joy as I take refuge from the storm with the family of God.

Thank you, thank you Jesus!
