Free Because He Rose…

Freedom comes at a cost.

For us the cost was Christ. But more than that is His victory in His payment. We aren’t free just because He died. We have been set free in His resurrection.

Christus Victor – Jesus rose again victorious over satan’s deception, sin and death. He rose so His children can be risen after death and be brought into His presence. The act of death on the cross was not complete until He finished the process by rising from the grave, laying out His ultimate plan of redemption.

There is a reason why, as protestants, we don’t often display a cross with a dead Jesus on it in our church’s, because He is alive! He is no longer on the cross, He rose victorious over it. We mourn His death and celebrate in His rising!

Sunday comes to bring us new life! Sunday comes to show us God’s deep love for us! Sunday comes as a reminder that Jesus, our humble Saviour, sits alive beside His Father!

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” ~ 1 Peter 1:3-5

So our hope is in His resurrection. Our hope is in a living God!

Sunday is here!

He is risen…He is risen indeed!
